Woking Conservatives Political Discussion group will meet on June 10 at Churchill House, where June Wood will lead the discussion on "The Big Society - what IS it all about?"As ever, the meeting is informal and preceeded by refreshments and followed by a visit to the Wheatsheaf pub at around 9pm. Join the Political Discussion Group as Carl Thomson leads the discussion on "The Union - UK or DK" - united or disunited. The meeting at Churchill House, Chobham Road, is preceeded by tea and biscuits and starts at 7.30pm. Afterwards there is a visit to the Wheatsheaf Pub at around 9pm to continue the discussion. All are welcome and party membership is not necessary.

Baroness Anelay of St Johns

Association President

Prior to her appointment to the House of Lords, Lady Anelay held a number of senior posts in the Conservative Party organisation. She was Chairman of the Conservative Women's National Committee from 1993 to 1996. She was made OBE in 1990 and raised to Dame Commander in 1995. She was made a life peer as Baroness Anelay of St Johns in 1996.

County Councillor - Woking South East

Liz Bowes represents the Woking South East Division on Surrey County Council and is constantly in touch with local residents and residents associations about key local issues. Liz sits on the Woking Joint Committee and the Children, Families, Lifelong Learning and Culture Select Committee.

Mike Hopgood

Association Deputy Treasurer

Mike has been an active member of the Officer Team for more than twenty years, serving the Association in various capacities. In support of his role to attempt to balance the books each year, he has chaired the Central Fundraising Committee, which is responsible for raising a substantial proportion of our income, and served as Deputy Chairman - Fundraising. He is always on the lookout for ways to increase our income, and to cut our costs. He is also currently Chairman of our Byfleet, West Byfleet and Pyrford branch and Treasurer of our Blue Ribbon Patrons Club.

Wine Tasting Experience

Presented by Elly Munro of Vinbiz at Mayford Village Hall, this is an opportunity to taste and explore some specially chosen rare and fine wines teamed with a selection of cheeses,svaouries and desserts.
