Woking needs a strong, local voice at the heart of the Government to get the results we deserve. From 2010- 2024 Jonathan Lord provided that voice.
Jonathan lives in Woking with his family and represented Woking, Pirbright and Normandy in Parliament between 2010-2024. During the past few years Jonathan has led several important local campaigns, including a highly successful one to expand services at Woking Community Hospital. He has also initiated and secured two acts of Parliament. The first helped to improve safety at all sports grounds. The second helped guarantee delivery of the Military Covenant with our Armed Forces personnel.
Before moving to the area more than 15 years ago, Jonathan worked in advertising and was Deputy Leader of the City of Westminster, where he won a reputation as a leading innovator on green issues. In more recent years as a Surrey County Councillor and then our MP, he has specialised in local and national health issues and has urged the vital integration of health and social care.
"To me, there is nothing more important than our health service," says Jonathan. "I want to ensure the best healthcare for everyone in the constituency." Whether it's visiting schools, helping charities raise funds or lobbying on behalf of voluntary groups, Jonathan always puts the community at the heart of his work.
Jonathan's proudest moments locally include getting action on flood prevention and opening the new Bedser Hub at Woking Community Hospital, a scheme that he helped to promote.
