I was first elected in 2012 for the old Brookwood ward. I was motivated by a desire to bring improvements to the lives of people I lived with and knew the only way to make a difference was to represent the Conservative Party. It was especially important to me that I stood in the seat where I lived.
I have two grown up children that have both had to leave the borough due to housing reasons, and I’m determined to give other young people in Woking the opportunity to stay in Woking if they want to by ensuring the right mix of housing is available.
I am Chairman of the Brookwood Last Post Association which exists to remember the fallen from various conflicts. It is extremely important to remember those that gave their lives for us, and equally important to learn from the past so we make fewer mistakes in the future.
I spent a few years learning the ropes before joining the Executive in 2018 and I now hold two of the most important portfolios that significantly impact the residents of Woking. The Environmental portfolio covers not only climate change issues, but also health and wellbeing by striving to provide some of the best habitat, bio-diversity and green spaces possible. I launched Planet Woking in 2020 which is the Council’s vehicle for getting the residents involved in our climate change efforts.
Recent events have seen the economy of Woking hit hard. The success of Woking in the future is very much in our hands with decisions we make directly impacting the economic landscape and attractiveness of Woking to businesses. I am pro-business and have a desire to make the economic conditions in Woking suitable for small start-ups, retail as well as businesses that choose to head-quarter in Woking.
